New Delhi: Essar Steel and E-18 gave away the Essar Steel Infrastructure Excellence Awards 2010, at an event on Thrusday organised in association with CNBC TV 18.
The awards ceremony was meant to recognise the achievements in infrastructure development in the country. The presentation of awards in 14 categories was preceded by a series of lectures on various issues such as real estate and powerThe winners were conferred the award by Mr Kamal Nath, Minister of Road Transport and Highways.
National Institute of Construction Management And Research (NICMAR) was the knowledge partner for the awards ceremony and the awards process was carried out by Process Advisor, Grant Thornton.
Mr Rohit Bahadur, Partner, Grant Thornton, said, ?Infrastructure in today's economy could not be emphasised enough. The aim of the awards was to recognise and promote the stand-out infrastructure projects over the last year.?
Explaining the jury's decision-making process, he said, ?Companies who filled up the nomination forms were a part of the awards process. To make the process fair, winners from last year were not allowed to enter last year's winning projects and were not allowed to nominate themselves in the category they won in.?
Mr Jai Prakash Gaur, Founder Chairman, Jaypee Group, was felicitated as the Infrastructure Leader of the Year, while Punj Lloyd Ltd won the Infrastructure Company of the Year. The Innovative Infrastructure Company of the Year was bagged by Bharti Infratel Ltd and the Emerging Infrastructure Company of the Year award went to ARSS Infrastructure Projects Ltd. Awards were also given out in the categories of Highway and Flyovers, Railways, Airports, Ports, Energy and Power, Oil and Gas, Telecom, Urban Infrastructure, PEB Project of the Year and the Infrastructure Design of the Year.
The Hindu Business Line was the print partner for the awards.
