New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor, has been conferred the distinguished Global Thinker Award 2010 by IILM Institute for Higher Education. The Minister also delivered a special lecture on ?Challenges of Global Governance: An Indian Perspective?.
To get engaged with the global academic community as well as to provide a forum for policy debate on issues of international importance, the award was instituted in 2006. The institute initiates an annual award to honour an internationally reputed leader for his/her academic achievements.
Welcoming the distinguished gathering, Ambassador KV Rajan, Converor, IILM India Forum remarked: ?I would like to say that this is the fifth in the series of Distinguished Global Thinkers Awards instituted by IILM. So, this is a lecture to which we attach a great importance and we are very pleased and privileged that Dr. Shashi Tharoor has agreed to accept this award from IILM and also to deliver this special lecture?.
Since 2006, IILM has honoured distinguished leaders, such as Prof. Lord Bhikhu Parekh, Prof. MS Swaminathan, Prof. CK Prahalad and Lord Meghnad Desai.
